How Kaffea-X Works
Kaffea-X is an online trading platform for bilateral spot trading of green specialty coffee, enabling importers,roasters, producers, and exporters to efficiently search, compare, price, and trade coffee through a consolidated platform.
Kaffea-X works by faciliating transactions with automated electronic trading agreements and escrow service protecting both buyers and sellers. Kaffea-X will not require margin or extend credit.
The Kaffea-X Kupic
Kaffea-X trading focuses on the KUPIC, a standardized, compact code that uniquely identifies a specialty coffee lot on the Kaffea-X platform. This code combines key price forming attributes, such as the origin country, harvest year, organic or rainforest alliance status, species, processing method, variety, screen size, and SCA score, into a single, easy-to-read string. This format helps users compare, filter, and trace coffee lots effectively, and most importantly, accurately map products to a specific pricing curve.
Exclusive and patented to Kaffea-X, the KUPIC offers a consistent shorthand that not only simplifies product listings but also reduces ambiguity in the supply chain. Furthermore, it enhances transparency among producers, exporters, importers, and roasters within the platform ecosystem. By fostering clearer communication and understanding, KUPIC strengthens the connections between all parties involved.

Bidding
- Browse listings and filter by specific coffee attributes.
- Place a bid at the list price or suggest an alternative offer.
- Bids meeting or exceeding the reserve price are auto-accepted.
- Send or receive counter offers to negotiate bids.
- Both parties have five minutes to cancel after a match.
- After the review period, a digitally signed spot contract is issued.
- On-going monitoring of all trading activity prevents unwelcome trading behaviors seeking to manipulate the market.
Escrow Payments
- All transactions are secured through a third-party escrow service.
- Contact details are shared after the contract is signed to coordinate shipping.
- Funds are held until the order is confirmed ready for shipment.
- The warehouse notifies the platform when the lot is prepared.
- Payment is then released to the seller automatically.
- This process protects both buyers and sellers and ensures fulfillment before funds change hands.
