In addition to providing execution through an independent escrow services agent, trading through Kaffea-X offers the community additional protections such as infrastructure for real-time and on-going surveillance of all trading activity on the platform, aimed at preventing unwelcome trading behaviors that could seek to manipulate the market.

Mary Johannes

Corporate Secretary and Senior Advisor
With over two decades of senior-level experience in government relations, public policy, and financial services issues management, Mary has a proven record of developing corporate and trade association public policy strategies; representing stakeholders before regulators and Congress; and successfully managing industry-level projects. Mary navigates rapidly-changing policy environments by building on strong corporate reputations and effectively utilizing internal teams and external resources. She has a demonstrated history of pragmatically applying strong analytical and communication skills; leading cross-functional teams; and advising boards and senior management. Mary holds a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from the American University Washington College of Law.

Paulo Peres

Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer
Paulo has over 31 years of experience in Financial Markets, with 29 of it spent at JPMorgan Chase & Co., with deep expertise in Counterparty and Market Risk Management, Client Solutions and trading securities. Most recently, trading commodity coffee for Agrisapien Traders.

Paulo has a proven track record of re-engineering processes, building new lines of business, designing and implementing models, systems, policies, and controls, and managing to completion large-scale, Industry, and regulatory-related projects. Paulo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the Catholic University of Campinas (PUCCAMP).

Joseph Willing

Chief Financial Officer & Corporate Treasurer
Joe is a senior manager with over 30 years’ experience in investment banking operations, covering an extensive range of global products, markets, and leadership roles in New York, London, and Hong Kong. He has a proven ability to partner with trading and sales managers, technology, financial and other disciplines to define strategic agenda and design and implement well controlled solutions to support rapid business growth, reduce cost, and improve productivity, and customer service. He has a proven ability to manage global, multicultural teams. Joe holds a BSc in Physics from MIT, a BA in Social and Political Science from the University of Cambridge, and an MBA from Fordham University. He also qualified as a UK Chartered Accountant.

Manny is an accomplished financial leader with over 30 years of rich and diverse achievements in the financial services sector. Proven financial veteran with comprehensive experience in trading and marketing across global markets, wealth management, and cross-border M&A covering corporate, institutional, family office and ultra-high-net-worth clients. Dynamic, known for excelling in a fast-paced environment demonstrating excellence in managing diverse responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving industry landscapes and contribute to the sustained success of organizations. Manny holds a BS in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business.

João Miranda, Ph.D.

João is a strategic thinker with strong business acumen, bringing to the table almost 30 years of experience in science, technology, innovation, and R&D involving hardware and software for a wide range of industries—from smart low-tech to highly complex military applications. João has a proven track record of designing and implementing systems, architectures, reference models, protocols, and algorithms for custom solutions; secure-by-design software; and developing transformation programs (digital, data, and business), future-proofing analyses (tech foresight & tech stack validation), and most recently in-depth analyses at the intersection of business and technology. João holds a Post-Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Trinity College Dublin.

Mohan Verma

Chief Revenue Officer
Mohan Verma is a seasoned financial service and fintech executive with over 30 years of experience in building and scaling SaaS businesses, executing acquisitions, and driving revenue growth. With deep expertise in financial technology, big data, risk management, and investment analytics, he has led global teams and successfully expanded market share across multiple business lines.Most recently, Mohan served as a Managing Director at Qontigo, where he was responsible for growing strategic accounts across index and analytics products, and managing a $250M revenue portfolio. Prior to that, he spent a decade at MSCI, Inc., where he held multiple leadership roles, including Global Head of Partnerships, Global Head of Services and Solutions, and Head of Client Coverage for Analytics in the Americas. Mohan holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Pace University and has served on the Board of Directors of NuView Systems.
